Before we go any further, I feel like there should be a disclaimer because I am not a painter, nor would I consider myself great at drawing. I wanted to create something with freehand.
But with this tutorial I want you to know that even if you don’t think of yourself as artistic either, you too can paint a cake.
I cannot get enough of this hand-painted cake trend, they are absolutely beautiful. I recently caught the hand-painted cake bug. And I’m loving it.

Ingredients for How to Hand Paint on Cake – Free Hand Painting on Whipped Cream
Two 6’inch cake (I used red velvet cake)
1+1/2 cup Whipping Cream
1/2 cup Homemade Cream Cheese (at room temperature)
1/4 cup powdered sugar
Few drops of cream cheese essence ( optional)
Sugar syrup(1 cup water mixed with 6 tbsp of sugar)
Few drops of red food colour
Tools used
- Spatula
- Amazon gift card
- Broad brush
- Scraper
I have tried Amazon gift card as scarper for many cakes and gives me super perfect edges. I know it’s tough to accept, but do try and you will believe in what I’m saying.
